Music Medicine

A Music Medicine session typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes and is guided by a certified counselor. Sessions may include:
- Guided Listening & Relaxation
- Rhythmic Breathing & Drumming
- Songwriting & Lyric Analysis
- Mindful Music Journaling
How Music Medicine Supports Recovery
Music activates the brain's reward and emotional processing centers without the risks associated with substance use, offering a healthy outlet for difficult emotions. Regular practice has been shown to lower cortisol levels, ease anxiety, and improve mood, all of which matter during early recovery and ongoing relapse prevention. Clients often find that music-based practices help them reconnect with a sense of identity and purpose outside of addiction.
Music Medicine is not a replacement for clinical treatment, but a complementary practice that strengthens coping skills and emotional resilience.
Is Music Medicine Right for You?
Whether you're newly in recovery, navigating a relapse prevention plan, or simply looking for a healthy new outlet for stress, Music Medicine sessions can be a valuable addition to your care plan. No musical background or experience is required, the goal is connection and healing, not performance.
Music Medicine is often paired with Tai Chi and other mind-body practices as part of a comprehensive relapse prevention strategy.
